Beck's Grove was established on the banks of Fish Creek in the middle of a huge group of towering pines during the Depression and Prohibition days of the 1930s by Louie Beck. There were no paved highways to Beck's Grove at that time, but it soon became a favorite for clambakes and summer outings for the many factories and mills in the area. Clambakes started early in the morning with breakfast and lasted into the evening with plenty of food and lots of clams, all for two dollars per person (clams were half-a-penny apiece then). Slot machines, home brew, and moonshine (although illegal at that time) were in plentiful supply and good times were had by all.

In 1946, Louie, now married to Kathryn, built Beck's Grove Restaurant, still with no paved highways. The restaurant and clambake grove flourished and in the 1950s paved roads made easy access to Beck's.

Beck's Grove was purchased from Louie and Kathryn in July 1968 by Bill Dunn. Bill and Linda Ischia (daughter of Jay and Eleanor Ischia) were married in October 1973 and continued to add on to Beck's Grove. With Bill's untimely passing in July 2002, Linda and the loyal Beck's Grove staff are unwavering in their commitment to extend the same warm hospitality and quality service for which Beck's is famous.

Dinner theater with the Chatham Theater Company started at Beck's Grove in 1985. Today, several hundred motorcoaches from New York State and throughout the Northeast make their way to Beck's Grove every year.

"A Beck's Grove Christmas" with thousands of lights and "one of a kind" displays (many animated) adorn the grounds and excite children of all ages at Christmastime.

Now in its 37th year of ownership by the Dunn family, Beck's has facilities for clambakes, bar-b-ques and outside functions for up to 2,000 people; weddings, parties and banquets for up to 250, and dinner theater for 180 people.
